What are the responsibilities & duties of a Product Owner?

  • Define and communicate the product vision and roadmap, aligning with the overall business strategy
  • Manage and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring clarity and readiness for development
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and incorporate their requirements into the product
  • Lead the planning of product releases and set the expectation for delivery of new functionalities
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure requirements are understood and implemented effectively
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Ensure product aligns with customer needs and market trends
  • Act as the primary liaison between the development team and stakeholders

What are the required skills & experiences of a Product Owner?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner, with a strong understanding of product management
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to create, prioritize, and groom product backlogs
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products
  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating complex situations and developing effective solutions
  • Knowledge of web-based technologies and software development life cycles
  • Capacity to adapt to changing priorities and environments
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders and understand their needs
  • Product Owner/Product Manager certification (e.g., SAFe) is preferred
